Steelers Defense Wins the Game

Both the Vikings and Steelers offense was lackluster this week, as the fourth quarter began with the Steelers leading 13-10.  With 6:23 left in the fourth, Favre was stripped of the ball and Lamarr Woodley returned the fumble 77 yards for a touchdown, making the score 20-10 in favor of the Steelers.  The Vikings responded with a kickoff return touchdown, and then got the ball back for one more drive before the end of the game.  Favre threw an interception 18 yards away from the Steelers end zone, and it was returned for a touchdown, giving the Steelers the 27-17 win.

The Steelers advance to 3-2 on the season with a strong win against the Cleveland Browns.  The Browns were down 14-17 in the third quarter, but the Steelers responded with a touchdown in the third and a field goal to seal the victory in the fourth quarter.  Hines Ward made eight catches for 159 yards and a touchdown.

Ben Roethlisberger had a season-high three touchdown passes and the Steelers held on to beat the Lions 28-20.  Lots of Steelers fans showed up at the Lions stadium and cheered them to victory.


Steelers Early Lead Holds Against Chargers

Rashard Mendenhall helped provide the Steelers a 28-0 lead in the third quarter, only for the Steelers to give up 4 touchdowns in the third and fourth quarter.  The early lead held against the Chargers, and the Steelers now advance to 2-2 on the season.


Steelers Blow Lead in Fourth Quarter

Heading into the fourth quarter with the score 20-9, it seemed that the Steelers could pull off a win at the Bengals Paul Brown Stadium.  Two strong drives led by Carson Palmer helped the Bengals defeat the Steelers, scoring with only 14 seconds left to win the game.  ”We feel like we beat ourselves,” Roethlisberger said.


Tough Fourth Quarter Loss for Steelers in Chicago

Roethlisberger threw for 221 yards and Holmes caught five passes for 83 yards, but the Steelers fell to the Bears 17-14.  The Steelers were ahead 14-7 at the end of the third quarter, but Cutler helped the Bears rally back and Robbie Gould sealed the victory with a 44 yard field goal with 15 seconds left in the fourth quarter.  Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said, “They did enough to win, we didn’t. We accept responsibility for that.”


Steelers Defeat Titans in OT Win

The Steelers were able to pull out an overtime win against the Titans in the first game of the season.  Tough defense from both sides produced a scoreless first quarter, but the Steelers went ahead first in the second quarter with a 34 yard pass from Ben Roethlisberger to Santonio Holmes.  The Titans responded with a touchdown less than a minute later, and pulled ahead 10-7 in the fourth quarter with a 45 yard field goal.  Steady offense helped get Jeff Reed into position to tie the game with 2:57 left in the fourth quarter, and then win the game in OT with a 33 yard field goal.  This brings the Steelers opening game win streak to 7 games.

Wow, what a game!!! The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Arizona Cardinals tonight 27-23 to win Superbowl XLIII.

James Harrison of the Pittsburgh Steelers ended the 2nd quarter and put his name in the record books. He returned an interception for a 100-yard touchdown!


Steelers Win AFC Title

The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Baltimore Ravens tonight 23-14 to win the AFC Championship and to advance to the Super Bowl to play the Arizona Cardinals. Roethlisberger ended the game with 255 passing yards and 1 TD. Joe Flacco had a rough game only completing 13 of his 30 passes, and had 3 INT’s. The Steelers will bring their NFL league leading defense to the tables against the Cardinals in hopes of winning the Super Bowl.
